Résumé
Dans les études sur le handicap en général, et dans la recherche sur l'autisme en particulier, une perspective neurodiverse gagne du terrain. Depuis les années 1990, et avec une intensité croissante récemment, le mouvement de la neurodiversité a remodelé les récits sur l'autisme, a recentré les priorités de recherche, ainsi que les façons dont les soutiens sont conçus et fournis. Le mouvement de la neurodiversité a placé les théories portées par des personnes autistes au centre des programmes de recherche, y compris la théorie de la double empathie. La plupart des recherches sur la théorie de la double empathie à ce jour ont examiné les schémas de communication entre des partenaires moins familiers, mais il reste beaucoup à apprendre. L'objectif de cet article est de : (a) passer en revue les données scientifiques relatives à la communication et à l'interaction sociale, à la théorie de la double empathie et au sentiment d'appartenance des personnes autistes ; (b) envisager l'avenir du bien-être des personnes autistes en donnant la priorité au sentiment d'appartenance ; (c) examiner l'intersubjectivité, la construction de sens et l'empathie comme facteurs du sentiment d'appartenance ; et (d) proposer un cadre visant à réduire les déconnexions d'empathie dans les interactions entre neurotypes différents.
