Résumé
Les recherches suggèrent que la périménopause peut aggraver les difficultés existantes chez certaines personnes autistes, avec des conséquences potentiellement catastrophiques. Les obstacles à l'expression de soi dus aux différences de communication sont également bien documentés. En reconnaissance de cela, notre équipe de recherche neurodiverse a invité des contributions créatives sur le thème des expériences autistes de la ménopause, recevant des œuvres de six participant·es autistes, notamment des peintures, de la poésie et des œuvres graphiques. En s'engageant avec les six contributions créatives, les chercheur·euses communautaires autistes de notre équipe ont produit des œuvres de réponse réflexives et polytextuelles. L'exploration créative de la ménopause autistique a encouragé la catharsis émotionnelle, la compréhension de soi et l'activisme/artivisme. Les chercheur·euses communautaires autistes ont relevé des dimensions transcendantes, presque « magiques », du lien avec les expériences vécues d'autres personnes autistes. Notre approche créative émancipatrice a permis des réponses autistes et multimédias que les méthodes de recherche traditionnelles n'auraient pas suscitées. À notre connaissance, aucune autre étude à ce jour n'a utilisé la recherche fondée sur les arts pour explorer les expériences de la ménopause chez les personnes autistes et les pratiques de recherche inclusives.
