Résumé
Nous avons comparé des nouvelles écrites par des étudiants universitaires autistes (n = 19) et non autistes (n = 23). Nous avons utilisé un logiciel automatisé et une analyse de contenu pour coder les récits des étudiants. Nous avons constaté que les écrits étaient davantage similaires que différents. Cependant, les récits des étudiants autistes ont été évalués à un niveau de lecture plus élevé (p = .013) que ceux des étudiants non autistes. Les récits des étudiants autistes contenaient moins d'erreurs grammaticales (p = .02), mais étaient moins susceptibles d'inclure un point culminant (p = .026). Les étudiants autistes ont rapporté un affect plus positif à l'égard de l'écriture que les étudiants non autistes (p = .026). Un affect plus positif à l'égard de l'écriture était associé à la rédaction de textes fortement fictionnels (p = .03) contenant davantage de phrases (p = .005). Les résultats suggèrent que l'écriture peut être une force pour les étudiants autistes et que les occasions d'écrire de manière créative peuvent favoriser un affect positif envers l'écriture.
