Le rôle de l'anxiété et de la dépression dans les pensées suicidaires chez les personnes autistes et non autistes : une analyse de réseau guidée par la théorie

CONTEXTE : Les adultes autistes connaissent des pensées suicidaires et des difficultés de santé mentale plus fréquentes que les adultes non autistes, mais la recherche doit encore expliquer comment ces expériences sont liées. Cette étude a exploré comment l'anxiété et la dépression contribuent aux pensées suicidaires selon la Théorie interpersonnelle du suicide chez les adultes autistes et non autistes. MÉTHODES : Les participants (adultes autistes n = 463, 61 % de femmes ; non autistes n = 342, 64 % de femmes) ont rempli en ligne des mesures d'anxiété, de dépression, d'appartenance contrariée et de sentiment perçu d'être une charge. L'analyse de réseau a examiné si : (i) être autiste est un marqueur de risque de suicide ; et (ii) les voies menant aux pensées suicidaires sont cohérentes chez les adultes autistes et non autistes. RÉSULTATS : Le fait d'être autiste était étroitement lié au sentiment d'être un outsider, à l'anxiété et au mouvement, lesquels étaient liés aux pensées suicidaires par l'intermédiaire des expériences somatiques, de la baisse de l'humeur et du sentiment d'être une charge. Les réseaux étaient largement cohérents chez les personnes autistes et non autistes, mais les liens entre les symptômes de l'humeur et les expériences somatiques et d'appartenance contrariée étaient absents chez les adultes autistes. CONCLUSION : Les personnes autistes connaissent davantage de facteurs de stress dans la vie que les personnes non autistes, ce qui entraîne des capacités d'adaptation réduites, une baisse de l'humeur et des pensées suicidaires. Promouvoir l'appartenance, réduire l'anxiété et comprendre le rôle du mouvement pourraient éclairer la prévention du suicide chez les personnes autistes. La recherche devrait saisir avec précision l'expérience vécue autiste lors de la modélisation du suicide afin de garantir que la prévention du suicide réponde aux besoins des personnes autistes.
