Résumé
Les expériences des étudiantes Autistes 1 à l’université sont rarement explorées. Dans cet article, le terme femmes désigne toute personne qui s’auto-identifie comme femme. Onze étudiantes Autistes ont participé à la création d’artefacts et à des entretiens semi-structurés explorant leurs expériences avec des enseignants universitaires. Toutes les données portaient sur leurs opinions et leurs expériences vécues. Cinq participantes étaient des étudiantes de premier cycle et six étaient des étudiantes de troisième cycle. Les données ont été analysées par analyse thématique et ont été classées en deux thèmes. Ces thèmes étaient : « Impact des enseignants » et « Sensibilisation et acceptation de l’autisme ». « Impact des enseignants » portait à la fois sur les relations positives que les participantes entretenaient à l’université avec leurs enseignants, et sur la manière dont elles affrontaient les stigmates enracinés concernant l’autisme que certains enseignants entretenaient. « Sensibilisation et acceptation de l’autisme » incluait les moyens par lesquels une connaissance de l’autisme chez les femmes et une réduction de la stigmatisation pouvaient être réalisées à l’université, principalement en intégrant les voix des étudiantes Autistes. Les résultats suggèrent que les relations positives des étudiantes Autistes avec les enseignants sont essentielles à la réussite. Cela était étayé par le souhait des participantes que leurs opinions et leurs expériences vécues soient valorisées, notamment afin de contribuer à développer une culture universitaire d’acceptation de l’autisme. Un environnement inclusif à l’université, incluant les étudiantes Autistes, est nécessaire pour améliorer les expériences positives à l’université. Résumé grand public Il est établi qu’un nombre croissant de femmes Autistes deviennent étudiantes à l’université, mais leurs expériences ne sont pas souvent explorées. Onze étudiantes Autistes ont créé des artefacts, tels que des écrits, des peintures ou des poèmes, et ont participé à des entretiens afin de partager leurs expériences à l’université. Cinq participantes étaient des étudiantes de premier cycle et six étaient des étudiantes de troisième cycle. Les artefacts et les paroles partagés par les participantes ont été examinés attentivement, et certains thèmes communs ont été retenus. La manière dont les enseignants s’adressent aux étudiantes Autistes a été examinée. Les participantes ont déclaré qu’elles avaient de la chance lorsqu’elles rencontraient des enseignants serviables. L’acceptation de l’autisme a également été explorée. Dans l’ensemble, la manière dont les enseignants traitent les femmes Autistes à l’université est très importante. Les opinions des étudiantes Autistes sur la manière de faire de l’université un lieu plus accueillant doivent également être écoutées.
