La neurodiversité renvoie à l'idée que tous les cerveaux, quelles que soient leurs différences, ont de la valeur et devraient être acceptés. Les attitudes envers la perspective de la neurodiversité peuvent avoir des répercussions concrètes sur la vie des personnes neurodivergentes, allant des effets sur les interactions quotidiennes à la manière dont les professionnels fournissent des services aux personnes neurodivergentes. Afin d'identifier les attitudes négatives envers la neurodiversité et, potentiellement, d'intervenir pour les améliorer, nous devons d'abord mesurer ces attitudes. Cet article décrit l'élaboration et la validation initiale du Neurodiversity Attitudes Questionnaire (NDAQ), y compris la révision des items sur la base de l'examen par des experts, des entretiens cognitifs, l'évaluation systématique du processus de réponse des participants et l'analyse de la structure factorielle interne de l'instrument au moyen d'une modélisation exploratoire par équations structurelles. Une analyse pilote menée auprès de 351 personnes vivant majoritairement aux Etats-Unis et travaillant actuellement dans des professions d'aide ou ayant l'intention d'en exercer indique que le NDAQ présente une validité de construit, est bien compris par les participants et correspond à une structure à cinq facteurs. Bien que le NDAQ représente le premier instrument conçu pour évaluer spécifiquement les attitudes envers la perspective de la neurodiversité, des travaux de validation supplémentaires sont encore nécessaires. Résumé grand public La neurodiversité renvoie à l'idée que les différences cérébrales, y compris les handicaps, ont de la valeur et devraient être acceptées. Les attitudes envers la neurodiversité peuvent avoir des répercussions concrètes sur la vie des personnes neurodivergentes, c'est-à-dire celles dont les cerveaux ne correspondent pas à la « norme » de la société. Ces répercussions peuvent inclure des effets sur les interactions quotidiennes, ainsi que sur la manière dont des professionnels tels que les enseignants et les médecins fournissent des services aux personnes neurodivergentes. Afin d'identifier les attitudes négatives envers la neurodiversité et, potentiellement, de les améliorer, nous devons d'abord mesurer ces attitudes. Cet article décrit l'élaboration du Neurodiversity Attitudes Questionnaire (NDAQ). L'élaboration du NDAQ comprenait la révision des items du questionnaire sur la base des retours d'experts et de personnes neurodivergentes, l'évaluation systématique de la manière dont les participants répondaient aux items du questionnaire, et l'analyse de la façon dont les items du NDAQ sont regroupés en différents facteurs. Une analyse préliminaire menée auprès de 351 personnes vivant majoritairement aux Etats-Unis, qui travaillaient alors dans une profession d'aide ou prévoyaient d'y travailler, par exemple médecins, enseignants, thérapeutes, etc., indique que le NDAQ mesure les attitudes envers la neurodiversité, est bien compris par les participants et correspond à une structure à cinq facteurs. Bien que le NDAQ représente le premier instrument conçu pour évaluer spécifiquement les attitudes envers l'idée générale de neurodiversité, des travaux supplémentaires sont encore nécessaires.
