Dans les populations non autistes, la synchronie motrice sociale au cours des interactions est liée à un rapport interpersonnel accru – une relation amicale caractérisée par une compréhension mutuelle et une communication aisée. Des recherches antérieures indiquent que les personnes autistes présentent une synchronie motrice sociale plus faible lors d'interactions avec des partenaires autistes et non autistes. Cependant, on ne sait pas clairement si cela affecte le rapport, car le rôle de la synchronie dans la communication sociale peut différer chez les personnes autistes. L'étude avait trois objectifs : reproduire et étendre les résultats antérieurs concernant une synchronie motrice sociale réduite dans les dyades comportant au moins une personne autiste ; deuxièmement, examiner la relation entre synchronie et rapport dans les dyades autistes ( n = 12), non autistes ( n = 17) et mixtes ( n = 14) ; et troisièmement, étudier le recours à la synchronie motrice pour établir un rapport chez les participants autistes et non autistes. Nous n'avons trouvé aucune preuve que les dyades comportant au moins une personne autiste présentent moins de synchronie motrice sociale que les dyades ne comportant pas de personne autiste. Cependant, nous avons constaté que la synchronie motrice sociale affecte positivement davantage le rapport dans les dyades non autistes que dans les dyades autistes. L'analyse au niveau des participants a indiqué que les personnes non autistes nécessitent des niveaux plus élevés de synchronie motrice sociale pour atteindre des niveaux élevés de rapport que les personnes autistes. Ces résultats suggèrent que les personnes non autistes peuvent mettre l'accent sur la synchronie des mouvements comme une composante clé d'une interaction sociale réussie. Résumé grand public Lors des interactions sociales, les personnes imitent souvent les mouvements et les gestes les unes des autres, un processus appelé synchronie. Cette synchronie contribue à favoriser un sentiment de connexion, de compréhension et d'aisance dans la communication. Bien que les recherches suggèrent que les personnes autistes peuvent présenter moins de synchronie dans leurs mouvements que les personnes non autistes, les implications de cette différence pour l'établissement d'un rapport restent incertaines. Plus précisément, on ne sait pas si la synchronie joue un rôle similaire dans l'établissement d'un rapport chez les personnes autistes et chez les personnes non autistes, en particulier lors d'interactions avec des partenaires autistes plutôt que non autistes. Cette étude avait trois objectifs : examiner si la synchronie est plus faible dans les conversations impliquant au moins une personne autiste ; explorer la relation entre synchronie et rapport ; et comparer dans quelle mesure les personnes autistes et non autistes s'appuient sur la synchronie pour se sentir connectées. Les résultats suggèrent que, bien que la synchronie influence positivement le rapport plus fortement dans les interactions non autistes, les personnes autistes peuvent moins s'appuyer sur la synchronie pour le rapport. Ces résultats mettent en évidence des différences dans la manière dont le lien social est établi, offrant un aperçu plus approfondi des interactions sociales chez les personnes autistes et non autistes.
