Résumé

Résumé Cet article présente une revue systématique de la prévalence et des facteurs de risque associés à la violence interpersonnelle signalée par des adultes autistes. Une recherche systématique d'articles de revues évalués par les pairs et publiés en anglais a été menée dans des bases de données électroniques. La recherche a identifié 16 études portant sur les taux et/ou les facteurs de risque de violence interpersonnelle. Les taux de prévalence variaient largement, ce qui a été attribué aux différences dans les types de violence étudiés, les définitions et les mesures utilisées, la tranche d'âge et le genre des participants, ainsi que la période couverte. Dans l'ensemble, les résultats indiquaient que les taux pourraient être plus élevés que dans la population générale. Douze études ont rapporté des facteurs de risque possibles, tant individuels que sociaux plus larges ayant été identifiés. Des recherches supplémentaires utilisant un plan longitudinal et des mesures validées sont nécessaires.

Abstract This article provides a systematic review of the prevalence and risk factors associated with interpersonal violence reported by autistic adults. A systematic search of electronic data bases for peer-reviewed journal articles in English was conducted. The search identified 16 studies that addressed rates and/or risk factors for interpersonal violence. There was wide variation in prevalence rates which was attributed to differences in types of violence being investigated, definitions and measures used, age range and gender of participants and time-frame covered. Overall results indicated that rates may be higher than in the general population. Twelve studies reported on possible risk factors with both individual and broader social factors identified. Further research utilising longitudinal design and validated measures is needed.
