CONTEXTE : Les personnes autistes présentant un trouble des conduites alimentaires (TCA) courent un risque plus élevé d'obtenir des résultats et des expériences de traitement moins favorables, peut-être en raison d'un manque de compréhension des mécanismes sous-jacents. Plusieurs facteurs ont été impliqués, tels que le traitement sensoriel et le camouflage social ; cependant, peu de recherches empiriques ont examiné comment ces mécanismes se regroupent ou s'agrègent, et si certains regroupements exposent l'individu à un risque accru de sévérité des TCA. MÉTHODE : Une analyse secondaire de données a été menée à partir d'une enquête en ligne auprès de n = 180 adultes autistes (âge moyen = 38 ans). Les participants ont rempli des mesures auto-rapportées du traitement sensoriel, du camouflage social et des symptômes de TCA. Des analyses de classification hiérarchique (HCA) ont été réalisées afin d'explorer le regroupement des comportements sensoriels et de camouflage social, et une ANOVA à un facteur a été menée afin d'explorer les différences entre les regroupements concernant les symptômes de TCA. RÉSULTATS : Trois regroupements distincts ont été identifiés : regroupement 1 (camouflage élevé, sensoriel faible) ; regroupement 2 (camouflage élevé, sensoriel élevé) ; et regroupement 3 (camouflage faible, sensoriel moyen). Les participants du regroupement 2 ont rapporté des symptômes de TCA significativement plus élevés que ceux du regroupement 3. Aucune différence significative n'a été observée entre les regroupements restants. CONCLUSION : Les résultats suggèrent que la combinaison de ces facteurs peut exposer les personnes autistes à un risque plus élevé de TCA, bien que de futures recherches longitudinales, à méthodes mixtes et plus représentatives, prenant en compte un éventail plus large de mécanismes de risque, soient nécessaires de toute urgence avant que des conclusions puissent être tirées.
