CONTEXTE : La pandémie de coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 a entraîné d'importantes restrictions de déplacement et des confinements nationaux. Ces changements drastiques ont eu des répercussions sur les routines, la vie sociale et les réseaux de soutien de la communauté autiste. OBJECTIFS : Cette étude a examiné les expériences vécues d'adultes autistes face aux attentes sociales avant et pendant le premier confinement lié à la Covid-19 en Espagne. METHODES : Une analyse thématique réflexive qualitative a été appliquée à 10 entretiens d'élicitation photographique utilisant des images fournies par cinq adultes autistes. Les entretiens ont été menés à deux moments, avant la pandémie et pendant le premier confinement. RESULTATS : Trois thèmes ont été identifiés avant la pandémie : (1) les interactions quotidiennes, (2) trouver un sentiment d'appartenance, et (3) le bien-être fragilisé, révélant le désir des participants de s'intégrer socialement tout en faisant l'expérience du rejet, ce qui affaiblissait leur santé mentale. Pendant le premier confinement lié à la Covid-19, deux thèmes principaux ont été identifiés : (1) les expériences quotidiennes positives, et (2) les échecs qui ont fait surface, soulignant une stigmatisation vécue accrue ainsi qu'un réseau de soutien à l'autisme inefficace, contribuant à une anxiété accrue. CONCLUSIONS : La présente étude apporte un soutien supplémentaire aux résultats récents mettant en évidence le manque de soutien approprié en matière de santé mentale pour les communautés autistes pendant la pandémie, dans le monde entier. Les recherches futures devraient viser à fournir davantage de données sur les expériences et les besoins des communautés autistes lorsque des changements sociétaux soudains sont imposés.
