Résumé

La présente étude a examiné l'âge du diagnostic (AoD) du trouble du spectre de l'autisme (TSA) au Népal à l'aide de données désidentifiées concernant 246 enfants ayant reçu un diagnostic de TSA et enregistrés auprès de l'AutismCare Nepal Society de 2010 à 2015. L'AoD moyen chez les enfants était de 58 mois (intervalle de 14 à 187 mois). La majorité des enfants étaient de sexe masculin (76 %), vivaient dans la vallée de Katmandou (75 %) et appartenaient à des groupes de castes supérieures (62 %). L'âge moyen du diagnostic de TSA au Népal est bien plus tardif que l'âge auquel un diagnostic fiable est possible, ce qui indique la nécessité de réduire l'écart entre l'âge auquel il est possible de diagnostiquer un TSA et l'âge moyen auquel le TSA est actuellement diagnostiqué.

The current study investigated the age of diagnosis (AoD) of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Nepal by using de-identified data on 246 children with a diagnosis of ASD registered at AutismCare Nepal Society from 2010 to 2015. The mean AoD in children was 58 months (range 14-187 months). Majority of children were male (76%), lived in the Kathmandu valley (75%), and were from upper caste groups (62%). The mean diagnostic age of ASD in Nepal is much later than the age at which a reliable diagnosis is possible, indicating the need to reduce the gap between the age at which it is possible to diagnose ASD, and the average age at which ASD is currently diagnosed.
