Résumé

Contexte et objectifs Des données suggèrent que les enfants et les jeunes autistes (CAYP) peuvent bénéficier d'une psychoéducation adaptée à leur âge. La co-conception est une méthodologie qui implique de manière itérative les utilisateurs finaux et les parties prenantes dans la production d'une intervention, ce qui peut accroître l'engagement et l'impact. Il existe peu de ressources de psychoéducation co-conçues et adaptées à l'âge des CAYP autistes. Par conséquent, une ressource sur support papier a été co-conçue pour des CAYP autistes fréquentant l'enseignement primaire ordinaire. La ressource vise à éduquer les CAYP au sujet de leur autisme et à leur fournir des stratégies pour les aider à bien vivre avec leur autisme. Méthodes Cet article décrit l'évaluation de la ressource prototype au moyen d'ateliers en ligne avec 12 familles et de contributions de quatre cliniciens spécialistes. La pertinence et l'acceptabilité de la ressource ont été explorées, et des notes illustrées ont été prises à des fins de validité auprès des répondants et d'engagement. Résultats Une analyse thématique réflexive a identifié six thèmes et deux sous-thèmes : (1) pertinence du contenu (sous-thème : stratégies et imprévisibilité) ; (2) se reconnaître dans le contenu ; (3) sentiments et émotions ; (4) terminologie (sous-thème : pensée littérale) ; (5) positivité ; et (6) aide à la communication. Des améliorations suggérées ont également été identifiées. Les résultats suggèrent que la ressource est pertinente et acceptable. Conclusions Les futures recherches sur le développement d'interventions pourront prendre en compte les différences individuelles des CAYP autistes et la co-conception de ressources destinées à d'autres groupes d'âge de populations neurodiverses.

Background and aims Evidence suggests that autistic children and young people (CAYP) can benefit from age-appropriate psychoeducation. Co-design is a methodology that iteratively involves end users and stakeholders in producing an intervention which may increase engagement and impact. Few age-appropriate co-designed psychoeducation resources for autistic CAYP exist. Therefore, a paper-based resource was co-designed for autistic CAYP who attend mainstream primary education. The resource aims to educate CAYP about their autism and provide strategies to support them to live well with their autism. Methods This paper describes the evaluation of the prototype resource through online workshops with 12 families and input from four specialist clinicians. The suitability and acceptability of the resource was explored, and sketch notes were taken for respondent validity and engagement purposes. Results A reflexive thematic analysis identified six themes and two subthemes: (1) content appropriateness (subtheme: strategies and unpredictability); (2) relating to content, (3) feelings and emotions, (4) terminology (subtheme: literal thinking); (5) positivity, and (6) communication aid. Suggested improvements were also identified. Results suggest the resource is suitable and acceptable. Conclusions Future intervention development research may consider individual differences of autistic CAYP and the co-design of resources for other age groups of neurodiverse populations.
