L'objectif de cette revue exploratoire systématique est de comprendre l'étendue et la portée des données probantes concernant la neurodiversité dans le sport d'élite. Cette revue exploratoire systématique a pris en compte les études épidémiologiques, les articles de commentaires et de points de vue, les revues systématiques et les méta-analyses, ainsi que toute étude d'intervention ou de traitement clinique, de prise en charge et de pratique en relation avec la neurodiversité dans le sport d'élite. Les études de cas et la littérature grise n'étaient pas admissibles à la revue. La neurodivergence incluait des troubles du neurodéveloppement tels que le trouble du spectre de l'autisme, le trouble du déficit de l'attention avec hyperactivité (TDAH) et les troubles spécifiques des apprentissages. Le sport d'élite était défini comme le sport olympique, paralympique, national, international, professionnel et semi-professionnel. Les 23 études finales incluses dans cette revue comprenaient 10 études observationnelles, 4 revues systématiques/narratives, 6 commentaires/déclarations de position et 3 études qualitatives. La littérature mettait principalement l'accent sur le TDAH en tant que facteur de risque de commotion cérébrale et de pronostic de récupération post-commotionnelle. En outre, l'accent était mis sur la prise en charge médicale du TDAH, concernant le respect des réglementations antidopage sportives. Une étude portait sur l'expérience de l'autisme chez les athlètes dans des environnements de sport d'élite au moyen d'entretiens qualitatifs. Une étude portait sur les troubles anxieux chez les athlètes d'élite, le TDAH apparaissant comme un facteur de risque majeur. Il existe une solide justification pour que les recherches futures s'appuient sur les données probantes relatives à la neurodiversité dans le sport d'élite afin de favoriser des environnements sportifs d'élite favorables et inclusifs.
