Cet article explore différentes significations du fait d’être social chez des personnes autistes employées dans un lieu de travail séparé pour personnes autistes en Suède. Les analyses de cet article reposent sur des données issues d’un travail de terrain dans un espace de travail autiste composé de personnes autistes travaillant dans le domaine du soutien par les pairs destiné à de jeunes adultes autistes en Suède. Deux formes différentes de socialité, qui se déroulent dans deux environnements sociaux différents, sont mises en évidence : les environnements dominés par des personnes non autistes et ceux dominés par des personnes autistes. La socialité fondée sur les intérêts comprend l’importance d’avoir des échanges fondés sur les intérêts les uns avec les autres, ainsi que d’avoir des intérêts communs et une communication fondée sur un intérêt authentique pour le sujet discuté. La socialité fondée sur le social repose plutôt sur l’identification à un groupe social. La première est la forme dominante de socialité parmi les participants, qu’ils associent au fait d’être dans un espace autiste. La seconde peut être considérée comme une forme contre-dominante de socialité parmi les participants, qu’ils associent au fait d’être dans des espaces dominés par des personnes non autistes.
