Résumé En 2006, Dora Raymaker, personne autiste et militante des droits des personnes autistes, a cofondé l'Academic Autism Spectrum Partnership in Research and Education (AASPIRE) avec Christina Nicolaidis, médecin-chercheuse et parent d'un enfant autiste. AASPIRE travaille dans le domaine de la recherche universitaire en santé et en services sociaux afin de mener les projets que la communauté A/autiste souhaite voir réalisés. L'organisation s'efforce de rendre le pouvoir aux communautés qui subissent l'oppression afin de faire entendre leurs voix dans les contextes de recherche et d'élaboration des politiques. Par exemple, son site web autismandhealth.org propose des ressources aux adultes autistes, à leurs soutiens et aux prestataires de soins de santé afin d'améliorer les soins de santé des adultes autistes aux États-Unis. AASPIRE a servi de modèle pour la recherche participative communautaire sur l'autisme, favorisant le développement de la recherche participative sur l'autisme à l'échelle internationale.

Abstract In 2006 Dora Raymaker, Autistic person and autistic rights activist, co-founded the Academic Autism Spectrum Partnership in Research and Education (AASPIRE) with Christina Nicolaidis, a physician-researcher and parent of an autistic child. AASPIRE works within the sphere of academic health and social services research to conduct projects the A/autistic community wants done. It endeavors to return power to communities that experience oppression to make their voices heard in research and policy settings. For example, its website autismandhealth.org offers resources for autistic adults, their supporters, and healthcare providers to improve the healthcare of autistic adults in the US. AASPIRE has served as a model for community-based participatory autism research, promoting the growth of participatory autism research internationally.
