Résumé
Bien que les signes des troubles du spectre de l'autisme (TSA) soient manifestes au cours de la première année de vie, peu d'enfants reçoivent un diagnostic avant l'âge de 3 ans. L'objectif de cet article est de mettre en évidence le rôle que les professionnels des soins de santé primaires peuvent jouer dans l'identification précoce des TSA en décrivant brièvement la mise en oeuvre réussie de The Social Attention and Communication Study. Des infirmières en santé maternelle et infantile ont été formées aux signes précoces des TSA, ce qui leur a permis d'identifier ces enfants avant l'âge de 2 ans. La procédure de formation utilisée sera décrite et les signes précoces surveillés seront expliqués en détail. Il est recommandé que la surveillance systématique des TSA chez les nourrissons et les jeunes enfants devienne une pratique standard parmi tous les professionnels des soins de santé primaires.
