Le trouble du spectre de l’autisme est associé à des affections coexistantes susceptibles d’avoir des effets défavorables sur la qualité de vie d’un individu. Aucune revue systématique de la qualité de vie des adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme n’a été menée. Nos objectifs étaient les suivants : (1) examiner les données probantes concernant la qualité de vie des adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme ; (2) évaluer de manière critique les pratiques actuelles d’évaluation de la qualité de vie des adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme. Nous avons recherché dans des bases de données bibliographiques et d’autres sources documentaires afin d’identifier les études utilisant une mesure directe de la qualité de vie des adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme. Une recherche manuelle des listes de références, une recherche de citations et des communications personnelles avec des experts du domaine ont également été effectuées. Au total, 827 études ont été identifiées ; 14 ont été incluses. Une seule mesure de la qualité de vie conçue pour être utilisée auprès de la population générale du spectre de l’autisme a été identifiée. La qualité de vie des adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme est inférieure à celle des adultes au développement typique, lorsqu’elle est mesurée à l’aide d’outils conçus pour la population générale. Il n’existe aucun outil complet de mesure de la qualité de vie spécifique au trouble du spectre de l’autisme, validé pour une utilisation auprès d’échantillons représentatifs d’adultes sur le spectre de l’autisme. Il est urgent de développer des mesures robustes de la qualité de vie des adultes autistes.
