Résumé

Résumé Contexte Compte tenu des données récentes sur les différences de genre dans la présentation de l'autisme, on s'inquiète de plus en plus du fait que les outils actuels pour l'autisme ne saisissent pas adéquatement les traits plus fréquemment observés chez les femmes. Si les outils pour l'autisme mesurent les traits autistiques différemment en fonction du seul genre, leur validité peut être compromise, car ils peuvent ne pas mesurer le même construit selon les genres. Les études d'invariance de mesure des mesures de l'autisme peuvent aider à évaluer la validité des construits de l'autisme pour différents genres. L'objectif de cette revue systématique est d'identifier et d'évaluer de manière critique les propriétés psychométriques de tous les outils autoadministrés pour l'autisme chez les adultes qui répondent à deux critères : (a) ils ont été publiés depuis les recommandations NICE (2014) ou y ont été inclus, et (b) ils ont fait l'objet d'études d'invariance de mesure liée au genre dans le cadre de leur processus de validation. Méthodes Une recherche dans les bases de données électroniques sera effectuée de 2014 à aujourd'hui dans MEDLINE, Embase et PsycINFO, à l'aide de termes de recherche prédéfinis, afin d'identifier les études admissibles. La recherche de littérature grise inclura des sources telles que OpenGrey, APA PsycEXTRA et Scopus. Deux évaluateurs examineront indépendamment les titres, les résumés et les textes intégraux afin de déterminer leur admissibilité. Les références des études incluses seront examinées afin d'identifier des notices supplémentaires. La qualité méthodologique des études sera évaluée à l'aide de la liste de contrôle COSMIN Risk of Bias, tandis que la qualité psychométrique des résultats sera évaluée sur la base de critères relatifs aux bonnes propriétés de mesure et de la liste de contrôle ConPsy. La qualité de l'ensemble des données probantes sera évaluée à l'aide de l'approche décrite dans les lignes directrices GRADE modifiées. Discussion Cette revue systématique figurera parmi les premières à évaluer les propriétés psychométriques et l'invariance de mesure liée au genre des mesures autoadministrées de l'autisme chez les adultes qui ont été publiées depuis les lignes directrices NICE (2014), ou y ont été incluses. La revue formulera des recommandations concernant l'outil le plus approprié pour évaluer l'autisme sans biais de genre. Si aucune mesure de ce type n'est trouvée, elle identifiera les outils existants présentant des propriétés psychométriques prometteuses qui nécessitent des tests supplémentaires, ou suggérera l'élaboration d'une nouvelle mesure. Abstract Background Given the recent evidence on gender differences in the presentation of autism, there is an increasing concern that current tools for autism do not adequately capture traits more often found in women. If tools for autism measure autistic traits differently based on gender alone, their validity may be compromised as they may not be measuring the same construct across genders. Measurement invariance investigations of autism measures can help assess the validity of autism constructs for different genders. The aim of this systematic review is to identify and critically appraise the psychometric properties of all self-report tools for autism in adults that meet two criteria: (a) they have been published since or included in the NICE (2014) recommendations, and (b) they have undergone gender-related measurement invariance investigations as part of their validation process. Methods A search of electronic databases will be conducted from 2014 until the present using MEDLINE, Embase, and PsycINFO using predefined search terms to identify eligible studies. The search for grey literature will include sources such as OpenGrey, APA PsycEXTRA, and Scopus. Two reviewers will independently screen titles, abstracts, and full texts for eligibility. The references of included studies will be searched for additional records. The methodological quality of the studies will be evaluated using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist, while psychometric quality of findings will be assessed based on criteria for good measurement properties and ConPsy checklist. The quality of the total body of evidence will be appraised using the approach outlined in the modified GRADE guidelines. Discussion This systematic review will be among the first to assess the psychometric properties and gender-related measurement invariance of self-reported measures for autism in adults that were published since (or included in) NICE (2014) guidelines. The review will provide recommendations for the most suitable tool to assess for autism without gender bias. If no such measure is found, it will identify existing tools with promising psychometric properties that require further testing, or suggest developing a new measure. Systematic review registration The protocol has been registered at the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO). The registration number is CRD42023429350.
