Abstract
Many books have dealt with the issue of social skills training and interventions for children and adolescents with Asperger ’s syndrome and autism. This text has seven appendices, seven pages of references and a subject and author index. The chapters can be split into three specific sections. The first gives background information on Asperger’s syndrome, while the second covers constructing, formatting, implementing and evaluating intervention sessions, as well as how to deal with any problems that may occur during session construction and implementation. The third section covers session plans and materials for 26 sessions. The sessions, following the same format of subject introduction, activities and therapist notes, deal with such issues as conversations with others, asking for help, negotiating with others, and responding to criticism and friends.
