Résumé
Les jeunes enfants présentant un trouble du spectre de l’autisme font face à de nombreux défis développementaux, notamment dans le domaine des interactions sociales réciproques avec la famille et les pairs. La collaboration avec les familles de ces enfants lors des séances de thérapie devient rapidement une bonne pratique dans de nombreux pays. Cet article présente une analyse qualitative d’entretiens semi-structurés avec 11 mères qui ont participé à des séances de musicothérapie centrées sur la famille avec leur enfant. Les questions d’entretien portaient sur les changements dans la nature de la relation parent-enfant. L’analyse des entretiens a identifié trois aspects de changement positif dans la relation parent-enfant, à savoir : la qualité de la relation ; la perception de l’enfant par les parents ; et la réponse des parents à l’enfant. Les changements dans la relation avec leur enfant ont été appréciés et chéris par toutes les mères, et la compréhension de l’impact qu’une approche centrée sur la famille pourrait avoir sur la nature de la relation parent-enfant nécessite une exploration plus approfondie.
