Abstract

I examine an interpersonal relationship that propelled my further understanding and eventual diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. Using autoethnography, I seek to understand emotions, identity, and interpersonal relationships better by narrating key moments in the relationships, interactions with a mental health professional, and reflexive analysis. My work interrogates how accessible a research method autoethnography is for someone with Asperger's. I use my experiences to share with readers what it is like to live with having trouble role-taking and reading and enacting neurotypical displays of emotion.

Cited references are imported from external metadata sources when they are available. The list may be partial.

Cited bibliography overview

These indicators describe the bibliography cited by this publication. An author name is counted each time it appears in one cited reference, so the same person can be counted more than once. Names not yet linked to an author already present in AutiHub are treated as unknown, not as non-autistic. Last computed: 27 Oct 2026 01:01.
