Test a citation

This tool checks whether a cited bibliographic reference can be matched with metadata found in Crossref, OpenAlex, PubMed and Google Scholar. It does not assess each field in isolation: it evaluates the combination of the authors, year, title, journal and DOI when they are provided.

The result combines two main signals. The general score summarizes how well the available fields agree with the reference found, while the title match checks whether the cited title really corresponds to the title retrieved. Reading both together helps distinguish a reliable reference from a partial, ambiguous or probably incorrect one.

Paste a bibliographic citation to prefill the fields below, then check and correct the extracted elements before testing.
