Test a citation

This tool checks whether a cited bibliographic reference can be matched to metadata found in Crossref, OpenAlex, PubMed and, where available, Google Scholar. It does not evaluate each field in isolation. Instead, it considers the combination of authors, year, title, journal and DOI when those elements are provided.

The result combines two main indicators. The overall score summarizes how well the available fields match the identified reference, while the title match assesses whether the cited title corresponds to the title retrieved from the source. Taken together, these indicators help distinguish a reliable reference from one that is partial, ambiguous or likely to be incorrect.
