Abstract

The aim of this systematic review is to identify and review the current research on masking behaviours in autistic children and adolescents. The aim of this is investigate the following research questions: 1. What literature has explored masking behaviours specifically in autistic children and adolescents? What is the quality of this literature? 2. Within the existing literature, what indicators of masking have been identified in autistic children? 3. What age has masking behaviours been identified in autistic children and adolescents? 4. What (if any) quantitative research on questionaries of masking in autistic children and adolescents exist and what are their psychometric properties?
