Abstract

This systematic review aims to identify and review research that has focused on the comprehension of gestures in autistic individuals compared to non-autistic individuals. The following research questions are to be investigated: 1. What studies have explored gesture comprehension in autistic individuals specifically? 2. What studies have investigated the comprehension of gestures in autistic individuals compared to non-autistic individuals? 3. Is there a difference between gesture comprehension in autistic individuals compared to non-autistic individuals, and are there any variables that may moderate gesture comprehension in autistic individuals? 3. What is the quality of the existing research investigating gesture comprehension in autistic individuals compared to non-autistic individuals?
