Abstract

Abstract Introduction Women and gender-diverse autistic individuals are diagnosed less frequently and later than men. Interacting patient-level and health system factors across the pre-diagnostic healthcare trajectory contribute to this inequity, yet no existing scoping review has mapped these together across sequential trajectory stages. This review aims to do so, and to identify which stages and factors remain understudied. Methods and Analysis This scoping review will be conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology for scoping reviews and reported using the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The search will be conducted across Medline, Embase, Scopus, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Gender Studies Database, and Global Health, limited to records published 2020–present. Title/abstract and full-text screening will be conducted in Rayyan and EndNote with two independent reviewers screening the records. Data will be charted in Excel using a structured form developed from the review's conceptual model. This will be piloted before full charting begins. Results will be synthesized narratively. Ethics and Dissemination As this review synthesizes previously published data, formal ethics approval is not required. The review will be submitted for publication. Key Words Autism spectrum disorder, sex and gender differences, diagnostic delay, health equity, care trajectory, scoping review
