Abstract

We present a balanced ethical position for Demand Avoidance Phenomena (Pathological Demand Avoidance). We argue that it should be viewed as undefined comorbid external to the autism spectrum. DAP needs robust to inform decisions around ontology, nosology and aetiology, to feed into policy and practice. Situating the construct in participatory scholarship, its' literature must be transparent to all stakeholders, autistic or not. We put forward that Demand Avoidance Phenomena is a suitable working name for this construct, accurately reflecting its manifold nature.
