Introduction : Cet article réflexif propose une perspective sur la pratique de la musicothérapie qui examine comment des expériences musicales partagées peuvent offrir aux enfants très verbaux sur le spectre de l’autisme des occasions d’élargir leur engagement dans le jeu social. Méthodes : La littérature pertinente des domaines de la musicothérapie, du développement de l’enfant et du mouvement de la neurodiversité est examinée parallèlement aux réflexions des auteurs sur leur travail avec des enfants qui apportent des motifs verbaux et gestuels dans les séances de musicothérapie. Les exemples de cas mettent en évidence des moments où le musicothérapeute a transformé le matériel verbal et gestuel de l’enfant en jeux interactifs fondés sur la musique. Résultats : Cet article propose des considérations pratiques pour les musicothérapeutes travaillant avec des enfants très verbaux, qui s’articulent autour de l’intention du thérapeute de soutenir l’enfant afin qu’il interagisse avec liberté et joie par le jeu musical et qu’il développe des relations avec les autres. Ces moments intersubjectifs au sein d’expériences créatives de jeu musical peuvent créer des conditions permettant à l’enfant d’explorer différentes façons d’être, d’interagir et de communiquer. Discussion : Les jeux musicaux dans le contexte de la musicothérapie mettent l’accent sur la valeur relationnelle d’un monde de sens créé et partagé mutuellement entre le thérapeute et l’enfant. Les forces verbales de l’enfant ne sont pas simplement reconnues ; elles deviennent le fondement d’expériences de jeu musical qui visent à élargir son répertoire d’expériences sociales et relationnelles.
